Women's Public Strain Retains #1 Spot On Campus Chart | CHARTattack Skip to Navigation CHARTattack
Women's Public Strain holds off all comers to retain the crown as campus chart top dog this week. Deerhunter's Halcyon Digest flips places with Black Mountain's Wilderness Heart, last week's runner-up album, to grab the #2 spot. Neil Young's Le Noise remains at #4 for a second straight week followed immediately by Arcade Fire's The Suburbs, which holds at #5.
There is some new blood in the top 10 in the form of Belle And Sebastian's Write About Love, which rises six spots to #6. Land Of Talk's Cloak & Cipher, a former #2 album, experiences a slight resurgence rising two positions to #7. It's followed by Sufjan Stevens' The Age Of Adz, which rises 19 places to land at #8. Diamond Rings' Special Affections falls a spot to #9 followed by Hot Panda's How Come I'm Dead? rising one slot to sit at #10.
It's quite a slow week for new entries, as the number of discs released dwindles to a trickle until the new year. In total, there are only five debuts on the chart this week.
Avey Tare's Down There is this week's Chart Sizzler Award winner and entering the campus chart at #30. Extra Happy Ghost and Lab Coat's split EP arrives at #39. Clinton Machine's Getting Personal debuts at #42. Sun Araw's Off Duty/Boat Trip enters at #47 and the self-titled release from Phantom Payn Days comes in at #49.
There's been no substantial shifts on any of the five specialty top 10 charts this week, either. Each of them feature a number of re-entries with the usual debuts. Three of the five charts have the same #1s, too.
Kataklysm's Heaven's Venom remains at the top of the Metal/Punk chart. They lead, amongst others, Comeback Kid's Symptons + Cures re-entering at #5.
Dubmatix's System Shakedown remains at #1 on the World/Folk chart and the top 10 sees two re-entries including Gamelan Madu Sari's Hive at #5.
Chromeo's Business Casual retains the top spot on the Electronic chart, which also features the return of Flying Lotus' Pattern+Grid World EP at #3.
John Legend and The Roots' Wake Up! rises two places to take over the top of the Hip-Hop chart, while Locution Revolution's Walk Tall returns at #8 and Marco Polo's The Stupendous Adventures Of Marco Polo re-enters the chart at #10.
Finally, Mary Halvorson Quintet's Saturn Sings retakes the top spot on the Jazz/Blues top 10 after a two-week absence. The top 10 also features two prominent re-entries: Kelly Jefferson Quartet's Next Exit at #7 and The Bad Plus' Never Stop at #10.
